FILM LAUNCH: An exciting introduction to the world of digital media and cinematic storytelling, Film Launch takes students through the evolution of film—from early moving images to the content we consume on our phones today. This course emphasizes the power of stories to drive change, with a special focus on revolutionary filmmakers rooted in New York City. As the storytellers of tomorrow, students will gain hands-on technical experience, culminating in a collaborative project where teams will write, direct, and produce short films together. Apply now.

ACTOR'S LAB: The Actor's Lab introduces SOCAPA City Cinema’s innovative "toolbox" approach to acting, allowing students to explore a variety of techniques and discover what resonates most with their unique style. Participants will actively engage with these methods through scenes curated by the instructor, and they will have the chance to apply their skills in student short films produced by their filmmaking peers. This immersive experience fosters creativity and collaboration, empowering students to develop their craft in a dynamic environment. Apply now.

CORE FILMMAKING II: NARRATIVE STORYTELLING
Provides students with the exciting opportunity to write and direct their own short film projects over the course of the semester. The class will focus on idea development, screenwriting, shot selection, and narrative filmmaking techniques, equipping you with the essential skills to bring your vision to life. By the end of the semester, each student will complete a polished short film that serves as a powerful calling card for launching their careers in the industry. Apply now.

CORE ACTING II: ON-CAMERA PERFORMANCE
Dives into the nuances of acting for film and television. This course teaches you how to adapt your craft to the camera’s demands, emphasizing the subtlety, emotional depth, and technical precision needed for on-screen work. Through scene work, you’ll develop the skills to deliver compelling, authentic performances that resonate on camera, while mastering the practical elements like hitting marks, maintaining continuity, and collaborating with a film crew. Apply now.
